How to Get Website Online

November 24, 2011

It's my son's birthday today!  Happy Birthday Damani!!!  Just had to get that out of the way first.

I started out just over a month ago researching how to make money online.  With 4 kids and a full-time job, my options are somewhat limited.  So the first handful of blogs will be a recap - to an extent.  I am pretty new to the whole online thing.  I just figured out how to post in a forum a couple days ago, that took like a whole week!  How to get website online was my very first challenge.  I needed to figure it out, because without it I would never be able to make money online!  I found this really cool FREE 26 video course online.  At first I was skeptical, the guy Chris Farrell had a funny accent and sounded like he was trying to make a sale.

But I was like, well it's free (which it actually really was - to my utter amazement!) so what the heck?  That took about a week off and on to go through, the clips are like 6 to 8 minutes long.  It taught me how to get website online.  Step-by-step.  It wasn't too difficult, and is made especially for beginners (like me!).  Chris was like click here, do this, do that, click here.  Which was really nice considering how very new I was (and still am!!!).

I learned exactly what to do, in order, and got my first website up in about two weeks.  Not by 3:45 like his FREE eBook Create Your First Website by 3:45 This Afternoon claimed, but not because it wasn't possible, mostly because I had to:
(1)  Come up with a domain name and buy it (that was like $10 - I did mine at godaddy.com, it was easy and cheap).
(2)  Buy a host account (that is like $10 to $20 a month for most services - I got mine through Chris so it was free)
(3) Set up my auto-responder (I picked Aweber - they're apparently the best service out there and only cost $1 for the first month and like $20 each month afterwards.

All and all, it cost about me about $17 to start out.  Mostly because of "trial offers" that are good for the first month.  It's costing me $57 a month now, not bad at all for starting a business.  Now will it really work?  That is the question.  How to get website online was challenge #1.  I have now done that successfully.  Yay me!!!
